You can dispose of all Solid Waste that are considered "Non Hazardous" by the EPA and TCEQ. That list includes furniture, debris from construction/demolition, paper, cardboard, wood, plastic, etc. However, do not throw away Hazardous or flammable wastes such as Gasoline, Paint, Batteries, Sealed Tanks, Oil, etc.

The E.P.A. (Environment Protection Agency) is a great source of information to help you determine whether your waste is considered hazardous or not. Here is a very helpful link to their site.

Within the greater Houston, keep in mind that the Sales Tax rate is 8.25%. If you are located within the Houston city limits, the Houston Franchise Fee of 4.00% will be added to your solid waste removal charges.
